90. Glasnost

This week, we’re getting out of the British Isles and heading east. Milo Edwards is a British comedian who moved to Moscow and, slightly unexpectedly, found himself a Russian TV star (though one who is only, in his words, “Geordie Shore-level famous”).

Milo tells me about life as a westerner in the Russian capital: why rich people won’t take the metro, why you might as well smoke in nightclubs, and why you should always watch out for icicles. Also, about the day he moved an oil painting and discovered the way to Russian Narnia.

There won’t be a podcast next week I’m afraid as I’m going on holiday. If you have any tips about cool things to do in Valencia, though, please do drop me a line.

Skylines is the podcast from the New Statesman’s cities site, CityMetric. It’s hosted by Jonn Elledge.
