This week's packed show sees Mike back from his travels and returning to the co-host chair, and an interview with Grammy-winning and Golden Globe-nominated composer and producer Simon Franglen. Although you might not know his name, you have most definitely heard his music and seen his films. Simon Franglen's credits include 4 of the top grossing films of all time and 6 of the top selling albums of all time!
Over the years, Simon has worked with artists across the board including Michael Jackson, Madonna, Celine Dion, Boyzone, Gary Barlow, and even a number of London grime bands. Since moving into film scoring, he's become known for his handling of complex, demanding projects, in particular those that involve orchestra and electronica. Working closely with James Horner, he won a Grammy for his work on Celine Dion's smash hit single My Heart Will Go On from James Cameron's Titanic, and received Golden Globe, Grammy Award and World Soundtrack Award nominations for work on Cameron's Avatar. His work can also be heard on Spectre, Skyfall, Se7en, The Amazing Spider-Man, and Moulin Rouge!
After the tragic death of James Horner last year in a plane crash, Simon was asked to develop the theme's James had worked on for Antoine Fuqua's upcoming film, The Magnificent Seven, which sees Simon take his first composer for a major motion picture. The Magnificent Seven, starring Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke & Vincent D'Onofrio is released in UK cinemas, 23rd September 2016.
