Acast’s Becky Celestina elected to The Podcast Academy’s Board of Governors
A Partner Manager for the Acast Creator Network, Celestina has over the past two and a half years served as a trusted advocate for Acast podcasters, helping independent creators and networks alike hone their content, cultivate loyal audiences, develop effective promotional strategies, and get compensated for their work. She champions podcasts of diverse genres and formats — recently organizing and producing Acast’s Audio Fiction Week — and works with some of the industry’s most renowned publishers. Having previously worked as a producer at Macmillan Podcasts, where she took series from concept to execution, Celestina brings a crucial understanding of storytelling to the partners she works with.
“It’s wonderful to see our active members move from committee work to becoming part of the guiding leadership of the organization. Becky is a great example of someone whose time and energy has been noticed over the past few years as she’s participated in the creation of resource guides for members,” said Michele Cobb, Executive Director at The Podcast Academy. “We are pleased to add her perspective and clear understanding of member needs to the Board of Governors.”
TPA’s Board of Governors sets the strategic vision and goals of the organization. With Celestina’s election, she joins the board’s work to encourage growth and networking in the podcast industry, create a space for podcast creators to be recognized for excellence, and foster an inclusive and diverse industry.
Celestina said: “The Podcast Academy is an organization that, from its inception, has provided a critical, central space where collaboration can happen across borders. Through my work on the Education Committee, I’ve seen how valuable the materials we put out can be for the larger podcasting landscape. It’s an honor to be elected by my academy peers to help shape the organization’s mission and create even more vital resources. I can’t wait to get to work.”
Celestina joins the board alongside fellow new members Chirag Desai, Steve Wilson, Valentina Kaledina, Ami Thakkar, Ilana Susnow, Daniel J. Lewis, and Martha C. Little. The group is the first to be elected by TPA members, and they join 11 appointed founding members. They will take office on May 1, 2022 for a two-year term.
“Becky is a true talent in podcasting, and her election to the board is a testament to her passion for this industry,” said Tiffany Ashitey, Creator Network Director, US at Acast. “It’s so clear through her actions, her relationships, and her own growth that she’s committed to fostering a space that allows creators to thrive.”
