An Inside Look at the Japanese Video Market -- Rene Paulesich (Global Alliance Lead, UUUM)
Rene Paulesich is the Global Alliance Lead for UUUM, one of Japan’s leading digital entertainment companies. Prior to joining UUUM, Rene worked in localization for major game publishers Square Enix and Nintendo in Europe, before making his way to Japan to join a small studio where he could be more involved in the game development process.
In this episode, Rene and I discuss the Japanese video market and his role in fostering international partnerships for UUUM. Rene offers insight into Japan’s fascination with YouTube and Twitter, though Facebook, live streaming, esports, and SVOD / OTT have yet to garner much popularity like they have in North America and other parts of APAC. Finally, he offers his predictions about the continued growth of influencer marketing, eventual convergence between TV and online video content, and localization technology’s potential to enable a more connected world.
